Visual Poetry | Katy Klassman I am the evening light, the lustre of the meadows pastel drawing 8 1/2 x 11" unframed, $125 gallery framed, $250 "These drawings use pastels from the most wonderful La Maison du Pastel which has been making pastels for 300 years and my own pastels, which I have been making for three months. It is the very skilled best of the old and the very amateur of the new!" Katy started mixing pigments at a young age for her Grandmother, Dorothy, who was a china painter. She studied History of Art and Fine Art at Skidmore College and continues to study art history, color and pigments to create materials for her work. Drawn on paper with pencil, pastels and painted with handmade mineral watercolors, Katy creates small, fantastical landscapes. They are meant to speak to the myriad of colors that come from the earth and honor the alchemical tradition. | PAINTER PROJECTS

I am a feather on the bright sky

I am the long track of the moon in a lake
I am a flame of four colors
I am a deer standing away in the dusk
I am a field of sumac and the pomme blanche
I am an angle of geese in the winter sky
I am the hunger of a young wolf
I am the whole dream of these things

You see, I am alive, I am alive
I stand in good relation to the earth
I stand in good relation to the gods
I stand in good relation to all that is beautiful
I stand in good relation to the daughter of Tsen-tainte
